Deuteronomy 7:12-16: “Then it shall come to pass, because you listen to these judgments, and keep and do them, that the LORD your God will keep with you the covenant and the mercy which He swore to your fathers. And He will love you and bless you and multiply you; He will also bless the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your land, your grain and your new wine and your oil, the increase of your cattle and the offspring of your flock, in the land of which He swore to your fathers to give you. You shall be blessed above all peoples; there shall not be a male or female barren among you or among your livestock. And the LORD will take away from you all sickness, and will afflict you with none of the terrible diseases of Egypt which you have known, but will lay them on all those who hate you. And you shall destroy all the peoples whom the LORD your God delivers over to you; your eye shall have no pity on them; nor shall you serve their gods, for that will be a snare to you.”
In the above portion of scripture, G-d tells the children of Israel that the reward for obedience to Him and His precepts as well as right living brings prosperity, vital power and health, and this is ‘victorious living’.
A report released by the Israel Central Bureau of Statistics showed that 8% of Israel’s Jewish population defines itself as ultra-Orthodox, 12% as Orthodox, 13% as traditional-religious, 25% as traditional, and 42% as secular, on a descending scale of religiosity. And about 50% of Jewish people worldwide are secular.
Yet even though less than fifty per cent of Jewish people are obedient to G-d and to His precepts, G-d has still blessed the Jewish people and Israel.
And G-d has blessed the Jewish people in Israel in the fruit of their land and their grain, their new wine and their oil, the increase of their cattle and the offspring of their flock.
Having been to Israel so often, I am amazed at how Israel grows and prospers year by year as Almighty G-d blesses and prospers His Holy Land…despite the hostilities from Gaza, the West Bank and Israel’s surrounding neighbours.
G-d has not only blessed His chosen people above all peoples, He has delivered over to Israel their surrounding enemies time after time.
However, G-d has also blessed His chosen people of the Spirit, His church with the oil and anointing of the Holy Spirit. And through Yeshua, the Jewish Messiah, He has made our enemy, Satan, our footstool. We read this in Psalm 110:1: “The LORD said to my Lord, “Sit at My right hand, Till I make Your enemies Your footstool.””
In Luke 10:19, we read: “Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”
And this has given you as the church victory over Satan.
Elijah, Israel’s greatest Prophet, was a model of obedience and faith. In 1 Kings 17:2-6 we read: “Then the word of the LORD came to him, saying, “Get away from here and turn eastward, and hide by the Brook Cherith, which flows into the Jordan. And it will be that you shall drink from the brook, and I have commanded the ravens to feed you there.” So he went and did according to the word of the LORD, for he went and stayed by the Brook Cherith, which flows into the Jordan. The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning, and bread and meat in the evening; and he drank from the brook.”
In 1 Kings 17:8-10 we read: “Then the word of the LORD came to him, saying, “Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and dwell there. See, I have commanded a widow there to provide for you. So he arose and went to Zarephath.”
Twice we see that Elijah immediately and without hesitation obeyed G-d’s instruction and twice we see that G-d provided Elijah’s need.
Philippians 4:19 declares: “And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”
G-d promises through Yeshua to provide our every need, but not our wants. And if G-d spoils us from time to time, it is because of His love for us and it is His sovereign choice.
So clearly we see that faith, obedience and persistence equal victorious living.
HaShem gave us Jews a mandate to show Him to the world, and he gave His church a mandate to show Yeshua to the Jewish people and to all mankind – it’s called the ‘Great Commission’.
Doing the above is obedience to the L-rd and His precepts. Not doing the above is disobedience to the L-rd and His precepts.
So, how are you doing?
How committed are you as Jews to HaShem by showing Him to the Gentile world by righteous living, love for all mankind and as an example as G-d’s Chosen People?
And how committed are you as the church who, according to scripture, are also G-d’s Chosen People to Almighty G-d and to Yeshua?
How many of the church cares for the flesh and blood brothers and sisters of Yeshua, the Jewish people?
How many of the church cares for the Land of Israel and the City of Jerusalem?
How many of the church is fulfilling the ‘Great Commission’ to both Jews and Gentiles?
To my Jewish brothers and sisters of the flesh, live righteously and obediently according to G-d’s precepts and be a living model of HaShem to the Gentiles.
To my brothers and sisters of the Spirit, offer your life to Yeshua as a “living sacrifice” by living righteously and obediently according to G-d’s precepts and be a living model of Yeshua to Jewish people and to all mankind.
Fulfill your G-d given mandate in Romans 11:11-14 to provoke the Jewish people to jealousy so that they may be saved. And if you don’t know Jewish people, fervently pray for their salvation
To both Jewish people and the church, let your life be a living sacrifice for Almighty G-d. Operate in faith and obedience to Almighty G-d. Be persistent in fulfilling your calling by obeying G-d’s calling and mandate for you.
Then receive G-d’s blessing for your obedience: prosperity, vital power and health, as this equals victorious living.
